Psalm 84

We are on our way to Canada via Buffalo, NY. The GPS says this is the best way to go but I am not convinced. It is a pretty drive. As I write we are on 271 on our way to Erie, PA. I drove the first 150 miles so now Dad is driving. We should get there by early evening tonight, maybe even in time to watch the sunset.

Today's Psalm is finally one that speaks to my heart after a long string that left me indifferent or even angry. I often long for the courts of the Lord. I know that for the Psalmist, this is the temple but for me this is the reat outdoors. This is where I feel God's presence. How I missed that presence this summer on the Appalachian Trail but it is that same spirit I found on the bike trails or the hiking trails in and around my home and the spirit I expect to find again in wilds of Canada. It is that since of comfort at being in the presence of God that compels this Psalmist to praise.

Yesterday, I did 24 miles from Groveport Soccer fields to Livingston Rd. and back as well as that two stretch that takes you down to 33. It will be nice when the get the bridge built. A fawn crossed the path right in fron of me and when I went to see where it was going, I saw mamma. So beautiful creatures. Julie and I are now without a tire on the tandem. Hopefully, by the time I return, the wheel will be fixed and we can return to riding together.

Thank you God for a great workout and the scenery that goes with it. Thank you for your presence that brings comfort and reassurance. Amen.
